A car was reportedly stolen from a King Avenue residence early Saturday and was subsequently recovered in a parking lot at Sunset Drive and Prince Avenue, Athens-Clarke County police said.
The owner was in bed when awakened at about 3:30 a.m. by the sound of her car’s door being shut, police said, and when looking out the window she saw the vehicle being driven out of the driveway.
After police found the car abandoned in the parking lot, they drove the owner to it and she told them money in a wallet she left inside the car was removed.
