Jacob Dale Seawright, 29, was arrested Friday after he allegedly assaulted his girlfriend during a dispute at their residence in the Spring Valley mobile home park, Athens-Clarke County police said.
He allegedly kicked in a bedroom door and punched the 30-year-old victim in the face, according to police, who said the couple’s home was in such disarray it “was almost like it was ransacked.”
Seawright claimed the victim stole a bottle of pills from him, police said, and the victim said she locked herself and the couple’s infant daughter in the bedroom because he was doing drugs and acting out since the previous night, “tearing the house apart.”
After he was arrested, Seawright was found to have a small bag of methamphetamine on him, police said.
He was charged under the state Family Violence Act with battery, criminal trespass/damage to property and third-degree cruelty to children. He was additionally charged with possession of methamphetamine and a parole violation.
