A house in the 500 block of Meigs Street that is shared by University of Georgia students was burglarized between Jan. 1 and Saturday afternoon and two TVs, a wifi router, a UGA blanket and sheets and towels altogether valued at $1,150 were stolen, Athens-Clarke County police said.
The thief got in by prying off a window screen, police said, and in addition to stealing the students’ belongings consumed food and alcohol that was in the house. A Styrofoam container left behind by the crook contained a brownie and sandwich, “consistent” with food given out at a church on Pulaski Street, led police to believe the offender was “a patron of the soup kitchen.”
