In 1975, Jerry Shore was 26 years old and working three jobs to support his wife and two young children.
It was at one of those jobs, pumping gas at a Hess service station on West Broad Street, that Shore’s life came to a brutal end. He was fatally shot during an armed robbery just before Christmas.
Authorities said Shore was just one victim of a violent rampage by 16-year-old Jimmy Michael Smith. A day before Shore was murdered, Smith stole his probation officer’s car at gunpoint and kidnapped the officer by locking him in the car’s trunk.
