Caleb Michael Motes, 23, of West Hancock Avenue was arrested early Friday when he was questioned by police for an unrelated matter and it was found he was wanted for a probation violation in Hall County, Athens-Clarke County police said.
According to police, Motes was questioned because he was spotted walking in the predawn hours in the area of South Pope and Meigs streets ,where there was an increase in car break-ins.
The probation violations stemmed from a drug-related conviction Motes had in Hall County, police said, where officials requested a hold be placed on his release until Hall County sheriff’s deputies could take custody of him.
