A Satula Avenue resident called police Friday morning to complain that a man who was sleeping in his vehicle near her house was making her uncomfortable and she felt unsafe, Athens-Clarke County police said.
When an officer woke up the man to relate the woman’s concerns, the 67-year-old man said he was homeless and living out of his Jeep, which he parked on Satula Avenue because of the street’s “good shade trees, according to police.
The man told the officer he wasn’t breaking any laws, but the officer warned him the resident who called police to complain could possibly pursue criminal charges, police said.
The officer advised the man of shelters and other resources for homeless person prior to the man driving off, according to police.
