Charles Richard Rabun, 51, of South Milledge Avenue was arrested early Thursday after the SUV he was driving was stopped for traffic violations and he was found to have crack cocaine in his pocket, Athens-Clarke County police said.
The traffic stop was made at about 3:30 a.m. by an officer who saw Rabun driving downtown, failing to maintain his lane and not using the vehicle’s directional signals, according to police. When the one-legged man was exiting the SUV, a glass pipe fell from his lap and he tried using his crutches to crush it, according to police said. Rabun was arrested at that point, and a subsequent search found he had some crack in his pocket, according to police.
Rabun was charged with felony possession of cocaine.
