A gunman on Wednesday robbed an undisclosed amount of cash from an employee at Family Dollar at 4060 Lexington Road, Athens-Clarke County police said.
The employee was stocking shelves at about 3:30 p.m. when the robber approached from behind, grabbed him by the arm and led him to a cash register, where he told the employee to fill a plastic bag with money, police said. The gunman, who concealed his face by pulling up his shirt, also told the employee to open a store safe, but he fled when the employee told him it would take several minutes to open it, according to police.
The robber was described as a black male who was about 6-foot and with a medium build. He was said to be wearing a black skull cap, gold sunglasses, a black T-shirt and blue jeans.
