The Winder Fire Department recently joined the ranks of hundreds of other departments to give moral support to a New York firefighter who is battling a deadly disease.
David Blank, a 30-year member volunteer with the North Boston Fire Department in western New York was at Buffalo’s Roswell Park Cancer Institute last month getting chemotherapy for acute myeloid leukemia. He reportedly told a nurse there that he wanted to wear the T-shirt of a different fire department each day of his treatment.
