An official with the American Postal Workers Union in Athens was recently indicted on charges she embezzled more than $23,000.
Cynthia Collins, treasurer of APWU’s Local 12, was charged with one count each of embezzlement and theft of labor union assets and falsification of annual financial reports filed by a labor union, according to the indictment filed last month in U.S. District Court.
She allegedly stole union funds between January 2011 and July 2012, according to the indictment.
The indictment does not include details of the alleged crimes.
