More than a year after authorities raided Alzheimer’s Care of Commerce and charged the owner and 20 employees with elder abuse and other crimes, the case is finally headed to a grand jury.
An investigation by the Georgia Bureau of Investigation probed allegations of widespread abuse, including staff restraining and assaulting patients, and administering drugs to difficult patients so they did not have to deal with them.
The facility also employed convicted felons, according to the GBI, including a man on parole for voluntary manslaughter.
