Athens-Clarke County police said they arrested early Tuesday morning an unlicensed teen who led an officer on a chase that ended when the teen drove over a strip of spikes other officers deployed to flatten the suspect’s tires.
The chase started at about 12:45 a.m. Tuesday when an officer saw the 16-year-old driver make an illegal turn at College Avenue and East Broad Street, nearly colliding with a van, police said.
When the officer activated his blue lights and siren, the teen sped up and headed west on West Broad Street, driving through several red lights, police said.
