For Charles Ivey, policing is more than a career. It’s a calling.
The son of a pastor, he is a devout Christian whose faith has guided him on his path with the Athens-Clarke County Police Department, where he is now a Robbery Homicide Unit detective.
Ivey started considering law enforcement as a profession while attending Clarke Central High School, where he met detectives from the former Athens Police Department through his Boy Scouts troop.
The detectives happened to also be on the SWAT team, and they taught Ivey and other scouts rock climbing and repelling.
