A woman called police Wednesday morning to report that she’d been robbed at Bethel Midtown Village.
Turns out, Athens-Clarke police said, the so-called victim was a bootlegger who got involved in a dispute over how much a customer owed her.
The woman called 911 about 9:23 a.m. to report the alleged robbery. She told officers that she had loaned money to an elderly neighbor at the complex, but when they met for a payment his granddaughter snatched $150 the man had given her, according to police.
