Lt. Jerry Saulters takes pride in the uniform he wears each day.
And every once in a while that pride reaches a new level when putting on a different uniform used only by members of the Athens-Clarke County Police Department’s Honor Guard.
Among other events, the special detachment attends funerals of officers killed in the line of duty, or retired officers who have died.
“I am honored to be a part of the Honor Guard,” said the 40-year-old officer who commands the unit.
