Gwinnett County police nabbed Athens murder suspect Melvin Lewis Brown overnight Tuesday.
The accused murderer allegedly shot and killed one man and wounded another on Sunday in a north Athens neighborhood.
Athens-Clarke County police, who announced a reward of up to $1,000 for information that led to 26-year-old Brown’s capture, stated in a media release early Wednesday that tips were instrumental in the arrest.
One tipster told local police Brown planned to go to an apartment complex in Gwinnett County. Authorities there quickly assembled an arrest team.
