Amy Renee Bishop, 49, of Watkinsville was arrested Thursday morning for allegedly assaulting a nurse the day before at Athens Regional Medical Center, Athens-Clarke County police said.
The nurse was one of the employees who went outside of the hospital to help Bishop get out of a car and into a wheelchair, according to police. When the nurse bent down to help get Bishop’s feet into the wheelchair, the woman reportedly grabbed the nurse’s hair and would not let go. The other employees helped to get Bishop off of the nurse and brought her into the hospital where Bishop continued to act disorderly and refused to cooperate with staff.
Police said they were not able to immediately arrest Bishop, for a reason that was redacted from the arrest report, so they returned with warrant charging Bishop with battery.
