Juanza Durnell Daniel Jr., 33, of Freeman Drive was arrested Thursday night following a domestic dispute in which he allegedly pushed and then choked his girlfriend, Athens-Clarke County police said.
The alleged altercation occurred after the girlfriend would not give Daniel her debit card due to her believing he would use it to buy marijuana and beer, according to police.
Daniel was charged under the state family violence with battery. There was insufficient evidence to charge Daniel with aggravated assault for allegedly choking the victim.
