Jeffrey Clay Howard, 52, of Evans Street was arrested Tuesday night as he rode a bicycle away from a house on Franklin Street that he just burglarized, Athens-Clarke County police said.
Someone called 911 to report the burglary at 8:29 p.m., saying they saw Howard replacing a window he apparently removed to get into the house that is under construction, according to police. When found riding the bicycle he was carrying a $300 miter saw he allegedly stole from the vacant residence, police said.
Howard was charged with first-degree burglary.
