A teen from Thomaston was issued two citations by police early Sunday when they caught her on a street downtown with a cocktail.
An officer was standing outside the police substation on College Avenue at about 1:30 a.m. when he saw the teen walking into the road while carrying a cup of an orange-toned beverage with two swizzle sticks poking out of it, according to an Athens-Clarke County police report.
The officer approached the teen as she was entering an Uber taxi and asked about the drink, which “was mostly full and had the strong smell of alcoholic beverage,” according to the report. “She stated that the drink was a sex on the beach,” a fruity gin and peach schnapps concoction.
The officer issued the teen citations for underage possession of alcohol and possession of an open container of alcohol and allowed a friend who was waiting on the teen to take her home, according to the report.
