Athens-Clarke County police last week took a 27-year-old Oak Hill Drive resident to the hospital after he was found talking to himself in a stairwell of Travel Inn on West Broad Street.
The man spoke rapidly and “without purpose or meaning,” according to police, who said they convinced him to go to Athens Regional Medical Center for an evaluation. An officer who found the man had left a Bible in a room at the motel brought it to the hospital, according to police.
