Quarlos Hinif Dunn, 20, of Arch Street, was arrested early Tuesday after fighting with two officers who attempted to take him into custody for an alleged theft, Athens-Clarke County police said.
One of the officers was taken by ambulance to St. Mary’s Hospital, while Dunn was brought to Athens Regional Medical Center for treatment of his own injuries, according to police.
The incident began with a report of a domestic dispute at Athens Regional Medical Center, where Dunn was said to have taken an iPad and cellphone from a woman and then left the hospital.
Police said that officers located Dunn at the Kangaroo convenience store on Prince Avenue, and that he put up a fight when told he was being arrested for theft.
Two officers suffered bleeding injuries, and one was taken to the hospital with a large bruise over
his eye, according to police.
Dunn was charged with felony obstruction, two counts of simple battery on a police officer, possession of marijuana, theft by taking and a probation violation, police said.
