An 11-year-old boy reported a man at a neighboring residence tried to run him down with his car, Athens-Clarke County police said.
The boy reported that he was on his bicycle on Highland Park Drive at about 4:20 p.m. Wednesday when the man drove his car straight at him, traveling “100 mph,” according to police.
The boy said he rode his bike into a driveway to get out of the way of the speeding vehicle.
Originally reported as an aggravated assault, police said they were investigating the incident as reckless conduct on the 20-year-old suspect’s part.
