A Deer Parkway resident was arrested on an outstanding warrant Monday afternoon and his wife also faces a criminal charge for allegedly trying to hide the man when authorities came looking for him, Athens-Clarke County police said.

According to police, Stanley Durrel Demming’s wife repeatedly stalled officers when they went to his home, once slamming the door on them when demanding to see the warrant. She remarked that when deputies previously searched the residence for Demming, they “disturbed her items,” according to police.

When police finally entered the home they found Demming in the laundry room, concealed amid a six-foot-tall pile of boxes, clothing and household items. They did not believe that Demming would have been able to create such a pile without assistance, so they planned to take out warrants charging him and his wife with obstruction.
