A 29-year-old Stephens County man died from injuries sustained last month in a two-vehicle collision in Athens.
Athens-Clarke County police said they were notified on Tuesday that James T. Mackey of Toccoa died from the injuries he suffered the morning of March 17.
According to police, Mackey was driving south on Commerce Road when he attempted a left turn onto Old Commerce Road, directly into the path of an oncoming SUV traveling in a northbound lane.
The motorist in the SUV, a resident of Foreman Drive in Athens, was unable to avoid a collision and his Chevrolet Tahoe struck Mackey's Ford Focus on its passenger side, police said.
Emergency personnel removed Mackey from his overturned SUV and took him to Athens Regional Medical Center.
No citations were issued by police.
