Two teens were arrested Friday after they allegedly went into the Duncan Springs Road home of an elderly Athens criminal defense attorney and stole a coin collection, $300 cash and medication, Athens-Clarke County police said.
The incident initially classified as a robbery, according to police, but the suspects were both charged with misdemeanor theft. The victim's daughter, who reported it to police, said the incident involved "a long story."
The suspects entered the home through sliding glass doors and then forced open the attorney's locked bedroom, police said. They were later arrested while in possession of the stolen items.
The suspects were identified by police as Lawton Alan Blalock, 19, of Hull and Owen Marshall Graham, 18, of Union Point.
