Daniel Huckabee, 34, of Winterville was arrested Sunday in connection with a hit-and-run accident in which he allegedly offered the other driver money to not report the collision to police.
The accident between his pickup truck and a car occurred that day at Knollwood Manor apartments on Old Hull Road, Athens-Clarke County police said. Huckabee had a probationary license due to him being a habitual violator, according to police.
When questioned at his home, Huckabee told police the mishap occurred while he was running an errand to purchase medication, but there was nothing in the probationary license that would have permitted him to drive to the apartment complex, police said.
Huckabee was charged with leaving the scene of an accident and violating the probationary license, police said.
