M as she fled from Georgia Square mall where she allegedly stole again.

According to police, a loss prevention office at the Belk inside the mall told an officer that a woman who previously stolen was in the department store, and asked the officer to wait by an exit for his phone call alerting him the suspect committed a crime.

Prior to receiving a call, the officer spotted 41-year-old Yonya Sequoia Davis hurriedly leaving the store, while nervously looking around, police said. Soon after, the Belk loss prevention officer came running to tell the police officer he needed to detain Davis, police said.

After getting into her car, Davis ignored the officer’s command to stop and she sped out of the parking lot onto Atlanta Highway where the officer lost sight of the suspect, according to police.

Returning to Belk, the officer learned Davis allegedly took two Living Doll shirts into a fitting room and left with them in her purse, police said.

The police officer indicated in an incident report that Davis was confirmed as the suspect because she was the registered owner of the car that fled from Belk and her driver’s license photo was an “exact match of the person driving the car.”

Previously convicted of shoplifting more than four times, police said, Davis will be charged in warrants with felony theft by shoplifting and obstruction of a law enforcement officer.
