Silver Montana Perry, 25, of Pinewood Circle, was arrested and charged with drunken driving early Sunday morning after crashing her SUV on Normal Avenue and then driving away, according to an Athens-Clarke County police report released on Wednesday.
After crashing into a mailbox and utility pole, Perry drove to Oglethorpe Avenue while being followed by a witness. Her badly damaged SUV, with its airbag deployed, was subsequently found in a parking lot on Hawthorne Avenue, and she was seated in a concerned passerby’s vehicle, police said.
When asked if she had been drinking, Perry reportedly replied, “A .08 maybe.” Breath tests showed she actually had a blood-alcohol concentration of .197 percent, more than twice the legal limit, according to the police report.
Perry was charged with DUI, leaving the scene of an accident and improper driving.
