A 21-year-old Athens woman believes someone drugged her Saturday night while at Toppers International Showbar on North Jackson Street, Athens-Clarke County police said.
She described a man who bought her a drink, of which she consumed only half when she began feeling “groggy and strange,” according to police. When the man accompanied her outside to smoke a cigarette, he made the woman nervous by “grinding and dancing very close to her.” She told police she went back into the bar and called a friend to pick her up. The friend, who went with the woman to the police sub station on Baxter Street, told about how the woman had difficulty standing and was nodding off.
